The following is the story on what happened on an early Friday morning drive on 221 before the Boxster lineup at the Meadowbrook. I was so looking forward to having the car on display at the lineup, but I didn't want to miss the chance for a great drive that Friday morning with Jim LaPiana and Darryl McDonald in Darryl's 996 and Eric Sasser in his 03 S. |
Meeting up at the Chetola for a 7 am drive on 221 | Half way on the 221 drive, great fun so far | A short stop at a great photo spot half way back | Jim, Mike, Darryl and the cars |
I was third in line. Don't ask me why this happened |
Thankfully two trees kept the car going to the bottom | This could have been so much worse | Now to figure out how to get the car out of here |
A flat bed and tow truck were called out to extract the car |
I was impressed with how much care was taken not to damage the car any more than it already was | Looking things over after getting the back on the road |
Ready to tow to where the flat bed was waiting |
Once loaded the car will be taken to the dealer in Hickory | Set up to load on the flat bed | Steel channels from the tow truck under the front tires... |
...to keep the nose from dragging |
Great help from Charlie Whitlock at Paramount Porsche and his preferred body shop to get the car drivable | Driven back to the Blowing Rock from Hickory |
Well, I guess the warranty won't help. Mileage on the drive back to Florida |
Considering all, including suspension damage, the car made it back ok | Video |
